Real Answers: The Ins and Outs of Adrenal Fatigue. (Podcast Episode 2)

by Brittany on May 30, 2012

After finishing my two cookbooks with Iris Higgins I crashed. HARD. Really hard. I would wake up feeling ok, but then within a few hours I was ready to go back to bed. My brain stopped working and no matter how much sleep I got I could barely function. This brought back my low thyroid symptoms. Then, at night time the opposite would happen. My heart would beat rapidly, I could feel an unsettling inner tremor, I was irritable and explosive. What was going on??

Adrenal Fatigue. Dr. Richard Herbold who I have interviewed in this second podcast figured out my answer. Quickly upon starting treatment I felt worlds better.

Today we  talk about how to find a diagnosis, how to treat the issue, what kind of diet to follow, how it can fuel food intolerances and much more.

I also want to personally recommend Acupuncture as it has helped me tremendously. It can be pricey and for that reason I suggest looking for a Community Acupuncture Center in your area. I go to a place called Rochester Community Acupuncture. Each visit is only $15-30 on a sliding scale. You pay what you can afford. The treatment has been wonderful, and has played a HUGE role in speeding up my progress.

For more information please read a post on Adrenal Fatigue that  Dr. Richard Herbold recently published.

Our next podcast will be on Seasonal Allergies. As always these episodes  are dedicated to each of you and are fueled by your questions. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions regarding Seasonal Allergies so that we may include then in the next episode.

If you missed it- take a listen to our last podcast: Debunking Hashimoto’s Disease.

thank you so much for these podcasts, how would someone go about finding a physician practicing in the manner that yours does? Phenominal information.

Hi Val!
Take a look through this list (http://www.thyroidbook.com/practitioner-locator.html). It is where I found Dr. Herbold. Each of these practioners have studied under Dr. K whom is a leading expert in thyroid disease and a number of other autoimmune conditions.

I just got both of your cookbooks in the mail. I decided to start from the very beginning and we made the italian flatbread with almond flour. We are in love!!! Thank you for all your hard work! These are great resources and I plan on talking them up on my blog.

I really enjoy the podcasts, but I have a hard time hearing Dr. Herbold. I usually have to go back and listen two or three times to what he says in order to follow the podcast. I’m not sure if you can find a way to boost the volume on his side, but I can only hear him half as clearly as you, even with my volume on full blast. Thanks for the informative podcasts!

This podcast is amazing. Thank you for the information and please schedule a podcast on the hazards of GMO based foods.
I have been following an Adrenal Fatigue program and had been doing so well and then all of a sudden feel like I hit a brick wall. I am trying to slow down and re-group and educate myself even more. This has been very helpful.
Thank you,
