A fellow blogger and friend (Charles Luce) mentioned to me that I had missed some mushroom varieties. He knows mushrooms extensively and provided me with this fun list that I thought I would share for fun! Thank you Charles for putting this together:

NOTE; DO NOT EAT ANY MUSHROOM UNLESS YOU CAN IDENTIFY IT WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY. MANY OF THE MUSHROOMS BELOW HAVE TOXIC “LOOK ALIKES”. SOME OF WHICH ARE DEADLY!!!
Chanterelles – smooth, ribbed, and cinnabar.
Black trumpet (actually members of the chanterelle family)
Boletes – many. Common edibles are: bicolor, varipes, badiceps and, if weather turns cool in August, the cepe or porcini
Suillis – related to boletes.
Agaricus (in cooler weather) including meadow mushrooms, Horse Mushrooms and The Prince. (Use extreme caution. There are deadly amanita that look very much like agaricus)
Oyster mushrooms
Chicken or Sulfur Shelf
Sweet tooth – two varieties –pied de mouton and orange
Beefsteak mushroom (one of the few that can be eaten raw)
Bear tooth 2 varieties
Cauliflower mushroom
Lobster mushroom (actually a mushroom that grows on a mushroom)
Milky – many species (Good even though my wife says that one of my favorites, Lacteri currugium, smells like dog food.)
Aborted entoloma (good despite the awful name)
Parasol (lepiota)Use extreme caution with this one. Some lepiotas are deadly.
Puffballs including the giant puffball. (again use extreme caution. Partially sprouted deadly amanita look a lot like puffballs)

Have a wonderful Sunday Everyone!

xo,

Brittany

Love the look of those pancakes! Thanks so much for highlighting my recipe, Brittany. I also have another recipe I may post this week--I thought cilantro was in season now?

Your orange rhubarb frozen dessert looks sooo good. I love the combination of flavors there. It's very different than anything that I've had before. I have linked up my Covey Rise Tomato Salad - New Hampshah Style. Thanks so much for hosting!
