I LOVE Ice Cream.. ANY time of the year. I will find a reason to eat it. Fall flavors offer such inspiration and my lovely little Cuisinart Ice Cream maker was just begging for some use. To be honest I hadn’t tried making ice cream since going Dairy Free this past February. The success of these recipes brought a bounty of excitement and tightness in my jeans. But it was worth it- Knowing perhaps some other Dairy Free Soul can enjoy a moment of life as much as I do- knowing they are aren’t missing out on a thing!
Last Thursday for the first time I had the opportunity to pick Concord Grapes- and what fun I had. I cant even begin to describe the intensity of the smell. Its as if you have jumped right into a big bottle of Welch’s Grape Juice and don’t ever want to get out. I ripped my hands to shreds and spent hours washing and sorting the good grapes from the bad. I ended up with 3 giant freezer bags full- Needless to say you can expect to see many grape recipes to come.
I tried 2 different variations before I settled on this Concord Grape Coconut Ice Cream Recipe. With the first I used less grape “juice” and tried using half Mimiccream. While it was delicious- It wasn’t “grapey” enough. I was extremely pleased with my second attempt and I think you will be too
On to the pumpkin- If you love Pumpkin Pie- well then your going to need to try my Dairy Free Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream. Its rich and creamy. Its name describes it perfectly.. think frozen pumpkin pie filling- only better.
There are three other recipes that I feel I must include. They come from absolutely wonderful blogs (which I strongly suggest you follow) The First comes from The Sensitive Pantry. Check out the Oatmeal Ice Cream with Maple Rum Raisin Sauce. Its incredible. And Second- Head on over to Gluten Free Easily and take a peak at the Creme Brulee Ice Cream recipe! The 3rd- Features one of my favorite flavors- Chai! Check out Simply Sugar and Gluten Free for an awesome Dairy Free Coconut Chai Spice Ice Cream.
As always- Feel Free to post the Links to your Favorite Dairy Free Ice Cream Recipes Below!
Happy Eating!

Brittany – Your ice cream flavors are wonderful! I love that you picked the grapes yourself. I think that extra step — when it's available — makes the food taste so much better! For me, getting out in orchards or fields to harvest is somewhat spiritual. I'm a big fan of Mother Nature. Many many many thanks for the mention in your post. The oatmeal ice cream you mentioned is one of my favorites.
I have to agree with Nancy … you've come up with some fabulous flavors, Brittany! I can't wait to see what else you do with all your grapes … very cool.
Thanks so much for the shout out, too! I love my dairy-free ice cream flavors.
Hugs,
Shirley
