- 3/4 cup hazelnuts, toasted
Directions
This is a fun twist on the traditional apple pie that a close friend sent me! I made this along with Christmas Dinner this year. Had to share this wonderful recipe!
For the crust I recommend my recipe for Gluten Free/ Vegan Basic Pie Crust.
- Make the Pie Crust and place in pie pan.
- Preheat oven to 375
- Stir first 6 ingredients into a large bowl. Add pears and toss to coat. Spoon into piecrust.
- For topping, whisk flour, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Add butter and rub with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal. Mix in toasted nuts. Sprinkle on top of filling.
- Bake for 15 minutes, reduce temperature to 350 and cook until pears are tender and filling is bubbly, for a total cook time of about an hour. Check pie crust to make sure it’s not burnt if it is beginning to brown cover with a pie crust shield. Cool on a wire rack. Serve slightly warm with Dairy Free- vanilla ice cream.
